These DOILY CHRISTMAS TREE CARDS are so pretty and easy for kids of all ages to make. Using just doilies, card stock and craft gems, kids can make a beautiful homemade card to give to friends and family at Christmas time.
My daycare kids love making homemade cards for their parents at Christmas, and these doily Christmas tree cards are easy enough for all of the age groups to make.
Toddlers and preschoolers can make these cards with very little assistance, while older kids can be strategic about the placement of their gem “ornaments” on their doily trees.
We’ve made a number of really cute homemade Christmas cards over the years. We’ve made scratch art Christmas tree cards, Rudolph footprint Christmas cards, and these wax resist Christmas cards.
The doily tree cards I’m sharing today are the easiest and perhaps the prettiest cards we’ve made yet.
Doily Tree Christmas Cards for Kids to Make
Doilies and craft gems are all your kids will need to make these Christmas cards, and those can both be picked up at the dollar store.
You can use any colour and kind of paper for your cards, but we’ve chosen to use sturdy card stock in vibrant, funky colours, and I think they make these simple cards look outstanding.
Supplies:
- doilies in various sizes
- craft sequins and gems
- card stock
- glue/scissors
How to Make your Doily Christmas Tree Christmas Card
We used 3 sizes of doilies to make the Christmas trees for our cards; large for the bottom section of our trees, medium for the middle section, and small for the top section.
For each section, we folded our doily in half, and then in half again. Then we opened the doily and left it folded in half just once, and cut along the lines of the folds.
This gave us 4 double sided doily pieces to work with.
The kids glued these doily pieces to a piece of card stock they’d folded in half, starting with the largest, bottom doily piece.
Then the middle doily piece was glued, slightly overlapping the bottom doily, and the top overlapping the middle doily.
Then, the children simply glued their craft gems wherever they wanted on their doilies.
They can finish by personalizing their cards with message written in marker, or they may want to try this cool glue-gun and glitter process to personalize their cards.
Either way, these Doily Christmas Tree Christmas cards will be perfect for your kids to give to someone special, and lovely to give with any homemade gifts they’re giving this Christmas.
