How to Make the Paper Christmas Tree Card

What you need:

  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue
  • construction paper (blue, green, red, brown, and white)
  • craft paint (white)
  • paintbrush

Step by Step Tutorial

Have kids fold the blue construction paper in half to create a card (other colors work as well, but we think blue and black are best for this one).

Step 1Step 1

Have them paint the bottom part of the card white paint to create a snowy landscape.

They can add swirls, textures, or patterns to make it unique.

Let it dry while you move on to the next step.

Step 2Step 2

Prepare a green construction paper for the Christmas tree.

Step 3Step 3

Cut out a simple Christmas tree shape.

Step 4Step 4

Glue the tree shape on the card.

Step 5Step 5

Cut out a small tree trunk and glue it under the tree.

Step 6Step 6

It’s time for the tree to get all Christmassy.

Grab a smaller piece of red construction paper.

Step 7Step 7

Cut out a small triangular shape for a Christmas hat, then glue it to the top of the tree, turning it festive and fun.

Step 8Step 8

Cut out and glue a small white circle for the top of the hat and a longer oval for the brim. You can have kids use cotton balls here as well.

Step 9Step 9

It’s time to paint some snowflakes!

Have children paint or dot the background with white dots to resemble falling snowflakes. Use a paintbrush for this or even better, have the kids make fingerprints.

Step 10Step 10

All done!

If you want a silly spin on this craft, why not also add a pair of googly eyes and draw a mouth to the tree.
