If you live anywhere in the greater NYC area, you’ve probably heard of The Chatwal Hotel. If you don’t know this hotel, then let me fill you in. This is the hotel to use if you love everything that’s vibrant, colorful, and energetic about Broadway because it’s right there. It’s located in the heart of Manhattan near Times Square, the perfect place to stay near the Theater District.
I planned a special weekend at The Chatwal for the girls and surprised them with a stay in their Stay Gold suite, and tickets to see The Outsiders musical that evening. The Chatwal, New York is offering a one-of-a-kind experience in this suite that celebrates the legacy of The Outsiders, the book, movie, and most recently Broadway hit. Curated by Krysta Rodriguez, an accomplished stage and screen performer, the Stay Gold Suite is an immersive experience in the world and decade of The Outsiders. Featuring era-specific, in-room entertainment, unique period keepsakes, and thoughtful touches, the suite ties guests’ stays with the famous story of family, hardship, and perseverance.
The suite features a curated selection of memorabilia and subtle nods to The Outsiders, immersing guests in the world of Ponyboy and his friends. Rich gold accents, vintage-inspired decor, 1967 record player, a projector filled with classic movies (we watched Breakfast At Tiffany’s), and literary touches create an atmosphere that blends the grit and heart of the story with The Chatwal’s signature sophistication.
The Broadway musical “The Outsiders” is a musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel, set in 1967 Tulsa, Oklahoma, and follows Ponyboy Curtis and his Greaser family as they navigate rivalries with the affluent “Socs”, exploring themes of friendship, family, and self-discovery. Siella read this book in school last year, so she has been dying to see this one. I will say the special effects they use in this musical to create rain, fire, lightning etc. were done so well, we loved every minute of it!
