Using the Candy Corn Alphabet Activity
When you are ready to use the cards, place them in a mesh bag or task card box. The kids can grab them during independent work times to practice their beginning letter sounds! Don’t forget to print the recording sheets so they get some handwriting practice, too.
To play, the kids will pull a card and place a clip on the image that matches the letter shown. Use any clips you have, but clothespins seem to work best. The kids can open and close them easily for fine motor practice.
Make them self-checking by placing a dot or sticker on the back of the card to mark the correct choice.
Differentiate Away with Beginning Sounds Clip Cards
These clip cards focus on beginning letter sounds by matching letters to images. Students also work on fine motor skills by opening and closing the clips and writing letters on recording sheets.
To differentiate this activity, you can choose either or both of the recording sheets that are included with the clip cards. The sheet with letters on it serves as a self-checking option as well. Including a self-checking option, can give kids a little extra support while using this resource
Students can also work on the activity independently or with a partner. They can even be used in small groups.
You can limit the amount of cards and letters worked on to any amount that you think your students can handle. Pick and choose letters your students are already familiar with or that you want to give them more practice with.
These Candy Corn Beginning Sounds Clip Cards will be a fantastic addition to your fall literacy centers. They are perfect for independent work times or to reinforce skills in small groups. Grab them for daily use in the fall or have them on hand for when you have a sub.
