Situated perfectly on the edge of Capestone Lake, this compact neighbourhood playground has fun elements like swings, a slide, dual flying fox, and a junior ninja warrior obstacle course, while offering visitors gorgeous views of the sparkling lake.
Capestone Lake Playground
Arriving at this northside playground you will be captivated by the views of the man-made lake that gives this park its name – Capestone Lake Playground.
Children will be excited by the dual flying fox, which zips back and forth and allows for friends to race each other from one end to the other.
A low to the ground climbing net gives climbers the opportunity to scale the net, without the fear of being too high off the ground (and if you were to fall the sand will be there to cushion you).
Traditional swings, and a wide embankment slide allow for children to swing and slide together. The embankment is also home to a rope which you can use to pull yourself up the incline or alternatively you can use the foot holds to climb to the top.
Junior Ninja Obstacle Course
To add to the excitement at this playground, a Ninja Warrior style obstacle course has been added (June 2024) and is popular among the kids. With a designated start and finish line, Brisbane Kids can challenge themselves to achieve the fastest time on the course, or perhaps extend the challenge to family and friends, to see who can zip through the obstacles the quickest.
While many obstacle courses are designed with teenagers and adults in mind, this one is perfect for primary school aged children, though depending on your child’s height and ability, they may need some assistance on certain obstacles.
The course features junior Quin steps, a pole forest, monkey rings, trail crossing, commander scaler, rockwall climber and sliding pole. Each obstacle is designed to challenge participants while building strength, mobility, resilience and problem solving.
There are several picnic tables dotted around the park, as well as plenty of grassy areas to lay out a picnic blanket. Electric BBQ’s, rubbish bins, a water tap and the all-important toilet facilities can also be found in the playground area.
Imagination Factor at Capestone Lake Playground
Visitors to Capestone Lake Playground can use their imagination to pretend they are vying for top position in Ninja Warrior, as they jump, hop, climbing and swing their way around the ninja warrior obstacle course.
For a more subdued experience children can look into the distance over the lake daydreaming as the swing in the air or slide down the super-fast metal embankment slide.
Accessibility at Capestone Lake Playground
Wide, concrete paths link the road and the playground, with the path continuing around the lake in a 2.5km loop.
Unfortunately, there is no specific all abilities equipment at this park and the sand base make access to the equipment difficult for those with mobility aides.
Accessible public toilets are available at the playground. While shade is minimal, there is a shade sail over part of the playground and there are covered picnic tables.
