How to Make the Craft Stick Gingerbread House

What you need:

  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue
  • hot glue or liquid glue
  • 6 wooden craft sticks
  • brown acrylic paint
  • paintbrush
  • pom-poms (in different colors)
  • brown construction paper
  • red color paper
  • white paper
  • red marker
  • a button (optional)

Step by Step Tutorial

You will need six craft sticks to create the frame for the gingerbread house.

Step 1Step 1

Paint the craft sticks brown on both sides.

Step 2Step 2

Let them sit for a while so the paint dries.

Step 3Step 3

Use low-temperature glue gun or white glue and glue four of the sticks together to make a square frame.

Step 4Step 4

Add two more to create the roof.

Step 5Step 5

Have kids cut a triangle out of brown construction paper that will fit the roof.

Apply glue on the craft sticks or on the edges of the paper triangle.

Step 6Step 6

Glue the paper triangle to the back side of the craft sticks.

Step 7Step 7

Cut a square from brown construction paper to fit the house part.

Step 8Step 8

Glue the square paper on the back of the gingerbread house.

Step 9Step 9

It’s time to decorate. Let’s make the snow. Kids can either paint it directly on the house or they can cut white paper instead.

Step 10Step 10

Add the snow to the roof.

Step 11Step 11

Add pom poms or colorful paper to the house.

Step 12Step 12

The more the merrier.

Step 13Step 13

Cut out a rectangle with rounded edges for the door, and glue the doors on the house.

Step 14Step 14

You can also add the knob (buttons work great for that).

Step 15Step 15

Candy canes always go well with the gingerbread house and the season itself.

Step 16Step 16

Draw one, cut it out, and glue it to the house.

Step 17Step 17

Why not have two?

Step 18Step 18

All done!
