It’s that time of the year again, when turkeys are frantically looking for a disguise to avoid becoming Thanksgiving dinner. Our disguise a turkey as an elephant printable template gives your kids the chance to make a fun looking elephant disguise for their turkey.
We absolutely love turkey in disguise projects, it’s a fun Thanksgiving craft that also encourages kids to do some creative writing. It isn’t enough for the turkey to just don the disguise; ask the kids to explain why they think this disguise will work.

So for this Thanksgiving, our turkey decided to hide in plain sight by putting on an elephant costume. An elephant is after all an animal one does not poke around with.
Pssst, we also have a firefighter turkey in disguise in case the elephant just doesn’t work out.

How to Make an Elephanet Turkey in Disguise
What you need:
- our elephant turkey disguise printout (you can grab this one for free at the end of the tutorial or you can get a whole set with over 25 character outfits)
- coloring supplies – markers are great, crayons or coloring pens can also be used
- scissors and glue
The best type of paper for this one is heavier print paper or cardstock, but using regular print paper works out pretty great as well.
Step by Step Tutorial
Print out the sheet with the “I am not a turkey, I am…” and have the kids color it in to look like a regular turkey.
We colored ours with markers, but any coloring supply will work.
Next, take the other turkey printout. Color the body in blue and the tail in a bush color.
Also have the kids color the parts with the elephant disguise.
Cut out the blue turkey printout and the disguise parts.
Let’s make the disguise. Glue a pair of elephant legs on the turkey’s body.
Also glue the ears and the trunk.
Next, take the sheet with the regular-looking turkey and fold it along the dashed line under the turkey.
Apply glue under the turkey’s body (on the folded part).
Stick the turkey disguised as an elephant on the folded part, making sure it covers up the regular looking turkey.
All done!
Now this turkey can take the disguise on and off at will and avoids becoming dinner.
The writing papers are also included, and you can glue them on the craft as well.
