Just popping in with another really easy but adorable Christmas ornament for your kids to make today. We whipped up these coffee filter angels in no time yesterday using just a few basic supplies.
We’ve made several really cute angel crafts in the past couple of weeks.
First we made these simple but beautiful seashell angel ornaments, and then we made our doily angel cards and our wine cork angel ornaments. They were all super-cute and easy to make, but I think these coffee filter angels are our easiest angel craft yet.
The supply list to make these angels is short, and it’s pretty much a no-mess craft, so it’s the perfect craft for kids to do when you’re short on time and you don’t want a lot of fuss and muss.
Coffee Filter Angel Craft Supplies:
- popsicle stick
- 2 or more coffee filters
- metallic pipe cleaner
- glue and glue gun
- markers
- sequins/craft gems
- thread or cord for hanging
To make your coffee filter angel ornament:
You can start by making your angel’s wings or your angel’s dress.
Making the angel’s dress
To make your angel’s dress, fold your coffee filter in half or not quite half, depending on how long and layered you want your angel’s dress to be. To add an extra layer or frill to your angel’s dress, fold 2 or more coffee filters this way, and layer them on top of each other.
Now fold the edges of the coffee filters in until you get a “neckline” that’s just a bit wider than your popsicle stick.
Use white glue to glue the dress to the popsicle stick.
Making your coffee filter wings
To make your angel’s wings, fold a coffee filter in half. Cinch the wings in the middle and twist a pipe cleaner around this section. Leave a bit of a tail on the pipe cleaner. It will make it easier glue the wings to the popsicle stick.
Use a hot glue gun to attach the wings to the popsicle stick, positioning the wings so the dress slightly overlaps the bottom of the wings.
Make your halo
Next, make a small halo from a piece of metallic pipe cleaner. Glue this in place by running a short line of hot glue across the back of the popsicle stick, leaving enough room between the halo and the dress to draw your angel’s face.
Make your angel’s face
For an easy angel face, make eyes, mouth and cheeks with permanent markers or pen.
To finish, glue a bit of thread or cord to the back of the stick for hanging, and decorate the angel’s dress with assorted craft sequins or gems.
