Egg Carton Flowers for Kids to Make

Show your kids how to make flowers from egg cartons! They can use their egg carton flowers to make wreaths, wall art, or display them in a vase. Because this flower craft repurposes egg cartons, styrofoam produce trays and old buttons, it’s a great craft for Earth Day too.

Egg carton flowers are fun and easy to make. Paint them in vibrant colours and attach a popsicle stick stem to make a lovely piece of art for spring.

See our egg carton poppy craft for alternatives for stems and centers.

Styrofoam produce tray for a canvas

We’ve used a styrofoam produce tray as a canvas which gives our egg carton flowers the look of a framed piece of art. Kids can get creative with the paint colours they choose for their styrofoam and their flowers.

Repurposing keeps crafting costs down

Another thing I love about this craft, is that we’re repurposing some items that would otherwise go in the garbage. Crafting with recyclables helps to keep your crafting costs down, and it’s better for the environment than buying craft supplies for a one-time use.

These little flowers, make me smile every time I see them, and boy, do they make us excited for spring. We’ve had nothing but cold and dreary days for weeks, so this bright and colourful craft really lifts the spirits.

How to Make Egg Carton Flowers:

Have kids paint their styrofoam canvas. While the canvas dries, cut out and paint the sections of an egg carton. Assemble your egg carton flower art with white glue and allow to dry.
