Fostering a sense of community
Recognising the importance of community connections, Green Leaves Early Learning Chapel Hill and its sister centre, Green Leaves Kenmore have partnered with the Kenmore Bears Junior Australian Football Club. Community sports play an essential role in keeping children active and engaged, whilst fostering a sense of camaraderie in the community. Throughout the sporting season, the Kenmore Bears visit Green Leaves to conduct fun skills sessions with the children.
Play-Based Curriculum & Extracurricular Experiences
Cultural incursion with Trae Trae, who transported the children into a world of dance and storytelling.
The curriculum at Green Leaves Early Learning Chapel Hill is developed around learning through play experiences, which provide children opportunities to extend and enrich their interests.
Recently, the children enjoyed a cultural incursion with Trae Trae, who guided the children on a journey through storytelling and dance about our First Nations people.
The children have also explored different art mediums, to nurture their inner artist, with visual art experts from RAW Art.
Throughout the year, the children also enjoy visits from their local police and fire department, dentist, and storytime visits from neighbouring primary schools.
Celebrating Special Days & Milestones
Working with pastry during a culinary lesson to create the traditional French dessert, lunette aux abricot, in celebration of Bastille Day.
Celebrating and acknowledging milestones is a cherished activity at Green Leaves, as it nurtures a sense of belonging and community among the children. The centre celebrates birthdays, cultural days and fun-themed days which provide opportunities for dress-up and dramatic play.
The annual Book Week Parade is one of the most exciting days at Green Leaves Early Learning Chapel Hill.
Recently, in celebration of Bastille Day, the children worked with delicate pastry to create the traditional French dessert, lunette aux abricot – a highlight of the many culinary experiences the children engage in, led by their centre Chef.

Learning about ocean life through play.
While Green Leaves Early Learning Chapel Hill offers varying learning through play experiences, the natural environment is central to the Green Leaves program and children are encouraged to cherish and protect their natural world.
Regular nature walks allow them to explore the local flora and fauna, and experience seasonal changes first-hand. Additionally, engaging nature-themed incursions develop the children’s understanding about wildlife and conservation.
A favourite feature across all Green Leaves centres is the edible gardens, where children actively participate in planting seeds, observing growth, composting, and harvesting. With the help of the centre’s in-house chefs, children create delicious meals from the produce grown from these gardens.
While high-quality architectural features are standard across all Green Leaves centres, each location has its own unique charm. Families are welcome to pop in for a barista-made coffee and a tour — you may even find a special chef-baked treat awaiting you!
