Enjoy an Enchanted Movie Night
Do you need ideas for a fun movie night with kids? Or maybe you just finished a Harry Potter book (or the whole series!) and want to celebrate that accomplishment? Perhaps you planning a Harry Potter party and showing a movie, too?
Well, these creative Harry Potter movie night ideas will help you make your experience a big hit!
I’m a big fan of Harry Potter books – and so are my boys. We’ve read and listened to this popular series again and again. Harry Potter themes have been favorites for our homeschool fun activities throughout the year. And we’ve enjoyed all sorts of cool celebrations and learning fun!
In addition to our Harry Potter-inspired poetry teatimes (we get a big kick out of The Sorting Hat’s songs!), Harry Potter movie nights have been truly magical experiences. My boys and I have tried a bunch of different recipes, activities, crafts, decorations, and games. As we plan out our next movie night with Harry Potter themes, I knew that I had to collect our top picks and share them with you.
Tips for Making The Most of This Movie Night Theme
When planning a special event, there’s so much excitement and possibilities. I know how easy it is to want to do all the things. But, if you try to do too much, it can be overwhelming and even expensive.
I recommend that you keep it simple. If you plan on watching all 8 Harry Potter movies (book 7 has a part 1 and part 2), you’ll have plenty of time and opportunities to try different goodies, activities, and decorations.
One way to keep it simple with your movie nights is to narrow down your themes even more. For example, for the first movie (Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone), you could use recipes and ideas featured in that film. You could make a cake and decorate it like Hagrid did for Harry on his birthday (“Happee Birthdae Harry”).
Also, I have found it helpful to take breaks as we watch the movies. We like to get up and move about the room a bit. That’s when we enjoy a game or activity (find recommendations below!).
