In our homeschool, Earth Day has become one of our favorite celebrations. My boys and I get an early start by using our Earth Day challenge . We use the printable chart to spark ideas and help us brainstorm ways that we can take care of our planet.
The boys and I work together to plan and prepare for the big day. What You’ll Need for This Mess-Free Handprint Craft
I’ve got some great news for you! In addition to this project being easy to set up and enjoy, you only need a few materials that you probably already have in your home, classroom, or library. Gather these supplies prior to starting your Earth Day craft:
If you’d like your craft to be stronger and more durable, I suggest using cardstock or similar material.
How to Make This Earth Day Handprint Craft
Prepare circles.
Cut out blue circle for the Earth base. Using white construction paper or cardstock, cut out circle. Fold the white circle in half.
Prepare and attach hand shapes .
You can either trace your child’s hands and cut out. OR use the hand templates found in the free template pack . Use glue to attach hands to folded white circle.
Add green pieces for land.
In the template pack, find and cut out the sections for land. Trace on green paper, cut out, and glue on blue circle. OR use green marker or crayon to trace the land pieces and color in.
Prepare and attach the heart.
Use the heart template to trace the shape on red construction paper. Cut out and glue onto center of Earth.
Attach Earth to the hands.
Using glue, attach the Earth to the folded paper circle with handprints. You can slightly pull apart the white circle and roll your Earth back and forth!
