Here’s some good news: You really only need a few materials for this easy fall craft for kids. And I encourage you to use craft supplies that you already have in your home or classroom!

- Popsicle Sticks
- Paint
- Orange or Yellow Felt
- Black Marker
- Glue (Hot glue works best, but white glue will work if little ones are gluing)
- Raffia
- Button (Yellow is shown in example but feel free to get creative!)
You may want to use googly eyes for a silly effect. Foam stickers for the button and nose could add interesting textures.

How to Make This Popsicle Stick Scarecrow Craft

Prepare popsicle sticks
Lay 8 popsicle sticks side by side. Take two more sticks and lay them crosswise. Cut or break the two sticks so they don’t stick past the 8. Glue the two shorter sticks to the other 8 to hold them together. Let dry.

Paint hat
Flip over and draw a line across the sticks with the black marker about 2 inches down. Paint the sticks orange on the short side. Paint another whole stick orange. Let dry.

Add hat brim
Glue the single orange stick across the black line. It should overhang both sides about equally. Let dry.

Add raffia hair
While this is drying, flip the scarecrow over and glue several strands of raffia so that it pokes out at an angle from under the hat brim. Do this on both sides to give the scarecrow hair.

Cut out and add nose
Cut a triangle from the felt. Once the hat and hair are dry, glue the triangle to the center of the face for a nose.

Draw on face and add button
Draw on eyes and a mouth.
Glue the button to the hat brim, slightly off-center.
