This vibrant playground peeks out from amongst the trees in a pleasant corner of Greenbank. Lavelle Park is a delightful place for local families to enjoy, with a well-equipped playground, sand diggers, a basketball half-court, and toilets.
Lavelle Park Playground
Lavelle Park has a little bit of something for everyone in the family. The bright orange colour scheme is instantly uplifting, and the large orange shade sails ensure little players have some sun protection.
Toddlers and preschoolers will be keen to explore the sand play base with the two sand diggers. At the toddler music station, they can also orchestrate a musical masterpiece. For their gross motor development, there are steps and ladders to climb, bridges to cross, slides to navigate, and a toddler swing to enjoy.
While the playground is partially fenced, a body of water is beside the park, so young children will need consistent supervision.
Primary school-aged children can unleash their imagination as they climb, slide, and swing to their heart’s content. The central fort stands ready for exploration, offering climbing nets, ladders, wobbly obstacles, and slides.
The simple flying fox, a beloved favourite, excels in developing shoulder strength. Adjacent to the fort, an inviting rope pyramid awaits those ready to conquer new heights. And beside it, a bank of swings — featuring both a disc swing and a regular swing — encourages friends to share laughter as they play together.
Lavelle Park caters to older children by featuring a well-maintained basketball half-court. This versatile area not only serves as a great spot for playing basketball but also provides a smooth, flat surface perfect for practising skateboarding and rollerblading tricks. Young enthusiasts can hone their skills and glide effortlessly, enjoying the thrill of free movement.
Parents and caregivers will appreciate the well-covered picnic tables and benches, which provide cool spots to watch the action and a place to enjoy lunch when little bodies need refuelling.
Imagination Factor at Lavelle Park
Little construction workers will be right at home at Lavelle Park using the sand diggers, shifting sand and preparing for a big building project. If your little Brisbane Kid loves sand, then bring along extra buckets, spades and trucks to really make the most of it.
Older children can enjoy creating obstacle courses across the pyramid and through the playground equipment.
Accessibility at Lavelle Park
The bright colours of the play equipment may assist children with low vision. Likewise, the musical elements may be engaging.
Concrete pathways lead to the playground, making it a pram-friendly location. However, the sand play base makes it challenging for people using mobility aids to access play equipment.

While You Are in the Area
Before or after you visit Lavelle Park, check out some other playgrounds in the area which we think are awesome. Heartland Central Park has great play equipment and a little pump track, while Everleigh Playground has a fun ninja warrior inspired playground. Be warned those, these local community playgrounds do not have toilet facilities.
What We Thought of Lavelle Park
We were delighted to find Lavelle Park. While the playground is not huge, it is jam-packed with equipment and play options.
Two sand diggers made my son very happy, and I liked the waterside location. I was also very grateful for the shade sails covering much of the playground equipment.
