How to Make the Newspaper Christmas Tree Craft
What you need:
- old newspaper
- scissors
- glue
- construction paper (green and yellow)
Step by Step Tutorial
You can use any color for the background, we think green works out exceptionally well.

Cut out a smaller rectangle to fit inside the green one.
This way it will be easy to not make the other parts of the craft too big.

Have your kids tear the newspaper into strips.
Rip, rip, hooray!

They can be roughly the same width, or a variety of different ones.

Kids can start creating the Christmas tree!
Tear one newspaper piece into a smaller piece for the tree’s tip.

And glue it to the top of the green cardstock.

Tear a longer newspaper piece and glue it under the top one, slowly building the tree’s shape.

Continue tearing and gluing newspaper strips, creating a festive Christmas tree shape.
Watch your tree come to life!

Tear another smaller piece for the tree’s trunk and glue it below the branches.
Your tree now has a pretty base!

Cut out a bright yellow star and glue it to the top of your tree.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

You’re done!

Your newspaper Christmas tree craft or card is complete and ready to spread holiday cheer to friends and family.

Happy crafting!
