Get into the spirit of Halloween by making your own colorful Paper Bag Haunted House! These spooky houses are easy to make and kids will love coloring in the free printable designs.

For the base of the houses, we used brown kraft paper lunch bags. If you plan on using these houses mainly for decorative purposes, you can place an empty jar, a tin can, or a rock inside to give it some weight to keep it in place.
Or, fill the bags up with Halloween goodies instead and give the haunted houses away as gifts!
Supplies Needed
- Brown paper bags – 1 per house. You can also find these at the dollar store.
- Markers
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Free printable haunted houses – get the free printable templates at the bottom of the post

How to Make a Paper Bag Haunted House
1. Color in the templates.
Download and print the free haunted house printables. You can get the templates emailed to you at the bottom of the post.
There are 3 different house designs to choose from – but you can also mix and match and create your own by choosing any windows, door or roof!
Kids can also draw their own doors and windows to add to the paper bags.
Use markers to color in the designs – we used purple, orange, and green but kids can color them however they’d like!
2. Glue the designs onto the paper bag.
Cut out the colored paper details and arrange them on a paper bag. Once you’re happy with the layout, use a glue stick to glue them to the paper bag.
The ghost, pumpkin and bat details can be added at the end. Add them on top of the windows or doors.
The roof can be glued to the top edge of the bag.
Place treats inside your bag and they will stand up. These make great gifts and Halloween decorations!
