Grab these Pumpkin Find and Color the Letter Sheets to work on letter recognition and uppercase-to-lowercase letter matching. They are perfect for alphabet centers in the fall!
Pumpkin Find and Color the Letter Sheets
The amazing thing about these free printable pumpkin find-and-color-the-letter pages is that they can be differentiated for students at various levels.
They are offered on black-and-white sheets, but there is also a color version. Then, there are printable pumpkin seed cards with corresponding uppercase letters. I have also included two sets of picture cards with beginning sounds to match each letter.
This allows for simple differentiation. Students working on letter identification can use the letter cards, and students ready to work on letter sounds and beginning sound isolation can use the picture cards. You can also mix them up and use both. There are many ways to use this resource to work on phonics skills!
This activity is perfect for teaching uppercase and lowercase letter recognition with preschool and kindergarten students during small groups or independent center times this fall.
If you have students who don’t like to color, try this!
Put the pumpkin sheets into write-and-wipe pockets or laminate them. Then, give the students a dry-erase marker to cross off the letters they find.
I also included two full-color mats for students to use manipulatives on. Give them snap cubes or alphabet beads to cover the letters on the sheet as they find them.

How to Use this Pumpkin Alphabet Letter Recognition Activity
Place the pile of pumpkin seed letter cards in front of your students. They will pull one card at a time and determine which uppercase letter they see. Then, they will locate the matching lowercase letter on their mat and color it in (or cover it up). They continue drawing cards until all of their letters are colored or covered!
Want to add even more fun to this activity? Hide the pumpkin seed cards all over the room and have your students go on an alphabet hunt to find the letters. They will love this fun approach to learning letters, and it’s a great way to get them up and moving while learning!
Thanks to the simple and easy-to-follow steps, many kids can complete this independently, making it ideal for literacy centers or independent morning work. It can also be differentiated for various levels and abilities and modified for children who don’t enjoy coloring.
