At Sherwood Arboretum, families have many options for relaxing. There are trees, picnic tables, and BBQs scattered throughout the park. Children can play in the playgrounds while adults unwind in the shaded areas, enjoying the river breezes. There is plenty of room for families and groups to bring their own tables, chairs, and portable gazebos to set up in their ideal spot.

The two playgrounds provide many options for your Brisbane Kids to play, climb, swing and explore.

The delightful nature play area is tucked away in the shade under the broad branches of large trees. It is perfect for toddlers and younger children and is accessible by ramps that connect three nature-themed play pods.

The space encourages interactive play with nature and includes deck bells, a kaleidoscope, ball run, chalkboard, bird-call soundboard, balance logs, and stepping stone mushrooms.

The well-planned landscaping helps create a tranquil play space where, after lots of fun, children can relax on the scramble net and gaze up at the branches above.

The larger playground area is very well-appointed and has modern equipment. This space has something for everyone, especially children who enjoy climbing.

There are two climbing forts here, a smaller and a large one, plus a large rope pyramid and a rope spider web.

Additionally, children will encounter nets, slides, bridges, tunnels, monkey bars, raised stepping stones and more! Surrounding the forts are spring riders, dizzy sticks and swings, including infant swings and an all-abilities swing with a harness.

The Sherwood Arboretum covers an area of 15 hectares and contains approximately 1100 trees, representing approximately 250 species and is part of the wider Brisbane Botanic Gardens collection.

Children can enjoy playing hide and seek around the playgrounds and trees for hours. The expansive green grassy areas provide ample space for ball sports and for kids to learn to ride bikes without training wheels.

What We Thought of Sherwood Arboretum

We thought Sherwood Arboretum offered something for everyone; it would be a delightful place to bring grandparents for a picnic.

We had a great time pretending we were on a bear hunt as we wandered around the park, and the kids loved playing in the new nature-themed play area. Hats and water bottles were valued as we went on our adventure.
