How to Make the Tape Resist Valentine’s Day Card
What you need:
- pencil
- white cardstock or art paper
- masking tape or washi tape
- paints: craft paints, acrylic paints, or watercolors
- paintbrush
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Fold a sheet of white cardstock in half to make a card.
If you are making these cards in the classroom, we recommend preparing this step the day before.
If your kids can already write on their own, let them write the word LOVE (all capitals is best for this one) with a pencil on the card.
If you are working with younger kids, this is another step that we recommend doing beforehand.
Now, it’s time to break out the masking or washi tape (washi tape is a better choice for younger kids).
Have them use the tape to create letters, carefully going over the pencil-marked letters.
LOVE is an easy word and perfect for Valentine’s day, but you can have the kids make any other word as well.
Bring on the paints! Whether you use craft paints, acrylics, or watercolors, the choice is yours.
It’s time to get messy. Cover the fingers with paint…
…and start pressing!
The more colorful fingerprints, the better!
There are many colors that can be used, you can have the kids pick their favorite ones or stick to a color palette that feels Valentine’s Day-sy.
Red fingerprints make the card pop out.
Once the paint has dried, it’s time for the big reveal!
Have kids gently peel away the masking tape, letter by letter, to unveil the masterpiece beneath.
Kids will watch in awe as the letters magically appear, surrounded by a vibrant rainbow of fingerprints.
And there you have it – a stunning tape resist Valentine’s Day card that will warm the hearts of anyone lucky to receive it.
Don’t forget to write a message inside and have kids sign their names inside before sharing the love!
