I’ve been so please with how popular our torn paper snowflake, Cat in the Hat, and Easter egg crafts have been. These torn paper crafts have been big hits in our family and I love hearing about positive experiences with them in homes, classrooms and libraries.

Recommended Supplies for This Mess-Free Flower Craft
To complete this project with your students, you really only need a few supplies. If you want to have a sturdier background for your flower, you can go with cardstock (white or other pastel color).
- Construction Paper (at least four colors)
- Glue Stick
- Optional: Free printable flower templates (find at the bottom of this post) and pencil to trace
- Black marker (to draw flower shape if not using templates)
How to Make This Torn Paper Flowers Craft
If you’d like your paper flowers to look like the example, simply follow the instructions in this tutorial. Feel free to think outside the box and try different colors and materials (like tissue paper).
Prepare flower outline.
Use the free printable flower templates (learn how to get at the end of this post) to trace OR Draw a simple flower pattern on a piece of construction paper.

Tear small bits of construction paper about 1 cm to no more than 1 inch per piece. Tearing the paper is excellent fine motor skills practice, as well as when your kids place the paper pieces on the template.
Add glue and yellow paper pieces to center of flower.
Working in sections, apply glue directly to the center of the flower and then stick the yellow paper pieces to the glue. Then, use the color(s) of your choice to do the petals.
