We love to get crafty with natural materials; this time we’ve made a tree craft with real branches and leaves! This arty project idea can be made all year round, but it’s best to do in fall with preserved leaves, as this way this piece of art will last for quite some time.
But you can use green leaves as well; while it will wilt at some point, the fun is in the process, and you can always snap a photo of the end result and have kids treasure it for years to come.

What we love about this project is that it promotes exploration outside as kids gather all the materials they need to make their tree. You can also use this opportunity to teach the kids of all the different varieties of local trees and other vegetation.
How to Make the Tree Craft with Real Branches and Leaves
What you need:
- glue
- cardstock
- real leaves
- a branch
Step by Step Tutorial
We recommend using cardstock or even cardboard for this project.
Start by gluing the branch to the cardstock. This makes the trunk of our tree.
Now, it’s time to add some leafy goodness to your tree!
Expand your tree’s canopy by adding leaves in various shapes, sizes, and colors.
Just like a diverse forest, include leaves from other plants to give your tree a unique flair. Because, why not.
Glue some to the bottom of the paper to create a textured forest floor, bringing your tree craft to life.
You can also add some falling leaves.
And voila! You’ve completed your beautiful tree craft with real branches and leaves!
Now, you can display your masterpiece for all to admire.
Remember to snap a photo if you’re not using dried leaves.
