Valentine’s Day Find and Color the Letter Sheets
The fantastic thing about these free printable Valentine’s Day find-and-color-the-letter pages is that they can be differentiated for students at various levels.
They are offered on black-and-white sheets, but there is also a color version. Then, there are printable Valentine-themed cards with corresponding uppercase letters. I have also included two picture cards with beginning sounds to match each letter.
This version even includes beginning sounds sheets to give you even more choices for how to use this alphabet activity.
This allows for simple differentiation. Students working on letter identification can use the letter cards, and students ready to work on letter sounds and beginning sound isolation can use the beginning sound sheets or the beginning sound picture cards. You can also mix them up and use both. There are SO many ways to use this resource to work on phonics skills!
If you have students who don’t like to color, try this!
Put the Valentine’s Day uppercase and lowercase matching sheets into write-and-wipe pockets or laminate them. Then, give the students a dry-erase marker to cross off the letters they find.
I also included two full-color mats for students to use manipulatives on. Give them snap cubes or mini erasers to cover the letters on the sheet as they find them.

Supplies Needed for this Valentine’s Day activity:
- Valentine’s Day Find and Color the Letter Printables (button to get them at the bottom of this post)
- Scissors – to cut out the cards
- Crayons or dry-erase markers
- Mini erasers or snap cubes (optional)
This activity requires very little prep. Print the pages and cut out the cards. You can also laminate the cards for more durability.
Don’t want to prep the letter cards? No problem! Use an alphabet manipulative like letter tiles or letter magnets. If you do that, this activity requires no prep. Just print the mats, and you will be ready to go!
Using the Valentine’s Day Uppercase and Lowercase Matching Activity
Place the pile of Valentine-themed letter cards in front of your students. They will pull one card at a time from the pile and determine which uppercase letter they see. Then, they will locate the matching lowercase letter on their mat and color it in (or cover it up). They continue drawing cards until all of their letters are colored or covered!
Want to add even more fun to this activity? Hide the Valentine-themed cards all over the room and have your students go on an alphabet hunt to find the letters. They will love this fun approach to learning letters, and it’s a great way to get them up and moving while learning!
Thanks to the simple, easy-to-follow steps, many kids can complete this independently, making it ideal for literacy centers or independent morning work. It can also be differentiated for various levels and abilities and modified for children who don’t enjoy coloring.
