Victoria Park / Barrambin – Urban Pump Track

Victoria Park / Barrambin – Urban Pump Track is a thrilling 260-metre course featuring jumps, bumps, and banked turns. It also features a multi-use space and connecting paths, and is a wonderful addition to the many outdoor spaces located in the Brisbane City Council area.

Located in the north-west section of Brisbane’s Victoria Park, the course is surrounded by 14,000 native trees and plants, all serving to create a lush and cooling effect. This is going to be a popular space, not just for the urban pump track but simply because it is a lovely, shady, green space in the heart of Brisbane City.

The Urban Pump Track

The pump track is suited to children and the young-at-heart and will attract riders of all ages and abilities. Designed in consultation with BMX riders, it features hills, jumps, bumps, and banks – everything a serious BMX enthusiast would expect.

While the track is more suited to kids who can already ride a bike or scooter, there are flatter tracks surrounding the main pump track that will suit younger children who are still mastering their skills. This will be fantastic if you have kids of multiple ages, providing some independence for older kids on the pump track while keeping a watchful eye on your little ones on the surrounding tracks.

For the Skateboarder

Skateboarders will appreciate the multi-use space with skateable elements. Once again connected to the pump track via walkways, this space will be popular for skateboarders of all ages and abilities. Features include cradles, ledges, and rails. The large open space provides plenty of room for riders to practice their tricks and make the most of the different opportunities.

The Connecting Greenspace

You can easily spend a day at Victoria Park / Barrambin – Urban Pump Track, thanks to the expansive greenspace that lies alongside the many pathways. The established native trees have provided bountiful shade and endless spots for many families to relax. You can just as easily kick a ball around here as you could enjoy a game of frisbee.

This north-west corner of Victoria Park can be enjoyed exclusively, or families might like to spend time exploring the surrounding features of the park, such as the Victoria Park Bistro, Putt Putt, Toptracer Driving Range, BBQs, and picnic shelters.

Safety and Accessibility

Safety gear is a must on the urban pump track. At a minimum, riders should be wearing a helmet, enclosed shoes, and comfortable clothing. It’s a good idea to also keep a first aid kit in the car and bring plenty of water for hydration.

The concrete path from the carpark into the pump track and multi-use space makes it wheelchair friendly, although it is hilly and support may be needed. There is a free carpark, water fountains, accessible toilets, and natural shade from the surrounding trees. The space is not fenced.

The park is open daily and lit until 9.30pm which we think is perfect for working families who can make the most of the longer days in Spring and Summer.

The pump track and multi-use space was fun, fast, and challenging for our young girls. Needless to say, there were multiple falls and building of resilience.
