Walmsley Park in Narangba – Brisbane Kids

The community playground at Walmsley Park Narangba is a small, but fun and shady play space for young Brisbane Kids. It is smaller than the usual playgrounds that make the cut to be featured on the Brisbane Kids website but we think it deserves inclusion because it is fenced and it has toilets.

Located next to the Narangba Community Hall, this fully fenced playground is great for toddlers and primary school-aged Brisbane Kids.

The playground features several climbing options such as walls and nets, which are all interconnected.  Monkey bars/rings, some swings and a cute dolphin springer can also be found in this northside playground.

A smaller fort with steps, a slide and ladder is perfect for toddlers. Sand surrounds this for, so why not bring your bucket and spade to do some digging.

Outside the fenced areas visitors can make use of the full-sized basketball court, which also features netball rings.

A picnic shelter with table and a single electric BBQ can also be found just outside the fenced playground, near the basketball court.

Imagination Factor at Walmsley Park

Young adventurers can build strength and dexterity as they scale the climbing walls and swing across the ‘raging river’ on the monkey bars. A game of ‘floor is lava’ or seeing who could be the next ninja warrior is also a fun way to spend time on the equipment at Walmsley Park.

Accessibility at Walmsley Park

Although there is no specific special needs equipment at Walmsley Park, there are flat concrete paths from the car park to the barbecue area, basketball court and playground. This path leads through the playground, with steps down to the toilets.

The play equipment is fully fenced, and shaded by trees to protect young skin from the sun. The park also features barbecue and picnic tables, making it a good spot for a family picnic.

What We Thought of Walmsley Park

This park is definitely designed for a short play, and probably suited to younger children. However, in saying that, our family happily spent 30 minutes here. We arrived by train (Narangba Station just a few minutes walk from the park) and sat at the tables to enjoy our bakery treats for morning tea.

After a play on the playground, pretending to be ninja warriors, the kids enjoyed shooting some hoops and practicing their basketball and netball.
