Westchester and Hudson Valley Trick-or-Treating

Yonkers

The Cross County Shopping Center is hosting FREE Halloween events as part of its Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 26, 2024. In addition to trick-or-treating, there will be arts and crafts, dancing, and more. Kids can also trick-or-treat at Ridge Hill Mall on Saturday, October 26, 2024, where retailers and restaurants will be giving out treats.

The Hudson River Museum’s Halloweekend event on Saturday and Sunday, October 26-27, 2024, includes trick-or-treating inside the museum along with other activities including a costume parade and meeting creepy, crawly creatures from the Greenburgh Nature Center. Come in costume and receive candy throughout the weekend.

White Plains

The city’s Highlands neighborhood goes all out on Thursday, October 31, 2024. The close proximity of the houses and the easily walkable streets make it a great spot to visit—and scoop up plenty of candy while showing off those costumes.

Sleepy Hollow

Arguably the top spot to celebrate Halloween in Westchester—the parade, the events, the history!—it’s no wonder Sleepy Hollow also has some great trick-or-treating. In particular, we hear the neighborhoods of Webber Park and Sleepy Hollow Manor are fun picks.

Where to Trick or Treat in Northern Westchester this Halloween

Katonah

Head to Muscoot Farm on Saturday, October 20, 2024, Trick or Treating at the Farm, which runs from 12pm to 3pm—and is totally FREE.

Pleasantville

On Halloween, visit the well-decorated trio of streets in town–Edgewood Avenue, Grove Street, and Great Oak Lane–that have been dubbed “Halloween Streets.” As one local tells us, the roads are closed to traffic to make it easier for kids to trick-or-treat. Also, since so many families are expected, non-residents can drop off candy to residents in the weeks leading up to Halloween to help them with the large haul they’ll need. Talk about getting in the spirit!

Armonk

We hear that School Street is the spot for some great trick-or-treating in town, with roads closed for Halloween. And, similar to Pleasantville, people in town help ease the treat-buying burden for local neighborhood residents by donating candy.

Pound Ridge

Trick or treat at Trailside Nature Museum as part of the Spooktacular Octoberfest on Saturday, October 26, 2024, and also enjoy hay rides, haunted houses, pumpkin painting, petting zoos, music, and more.

Briarcliff Manor

In-the-know visitors recommend the “tree streets” in Briarcliff Manor, located near Todd Elementary School, for some great trick-or-treating. As we’re told, the homes are well-decorated, there are lots of young families—and there’s plenty of police presence to help with traffic and parking. A win-win!

Cornwall

The Village of Cornwall was named by Daily Meal as one of the best trick-or-treating neighborhoods in the country several years back. The site recognizes the town for its safety, walkability, and abundant candy hot spots. Contributing to the town’s appeal is a haunted attraction dubbed the Corn House of Horrors. Legend has it that the ghosts of Thaddeus Corn and his family return to the house every Halloween to terrorize passerby.

Sugar Loaf

The Village of Sugar Loaf offers trick-or-treating in the hamlet as part of the Sugarloaf Halloween Festival, Saturday, October 26, 2024, which also includes free activities including a trunk or treat, hay maze, and witches meet & greet.

Greenwood Lake

Kids can trick-or-treat at the businesses in the Village of Greenwood Lake as part of the Greenwood Lake Halloween Festival on Saturday, October 19, 2024, which also includes a Terror Trail, parade, bounce houses, and more fun activities.

Where to Trick or Treat in Ulster County This Halloween

New Paltz

Trick or treat from the historic houses on New Paltz’s Huguenot Street on Halloween night, and enjoy a parade and festival afterward. A portion of Huguenot Street is closed to vehicular traffic during this event, from the 1799 LeFevre House (54 Huguenot Street) up to Mulberry Street. Broadhead Avenue will be closed from the Huguenot Street intersection to the gravel parking lot.

Marlboro

The town of Marlboro invites all to join in the Halloween festivities in the downtown on Halloween night. Kids can trick or treat from local businesses and enjoy dance performances, a costume contest, prizes, festive music, kids’ crafts, a hay maze, a photo-op area, a petting zoo, and much more.
